For most live classes your child needs a laptop or desktop computer, a stable internet connection, headphones with a microphone, a working camera and a quiet space. For coding, a laptop or desktop is strongly recommended over a tablet or phone.
The device
| Activity | Recommended | Workable |
|---|---|---|
| Coding classes | Laptop or desktop | N/A |
| Design classes | Laptop or desktop | Tablet for some tools |
| Writing and discussion classes | Laptop or desktop | Tablet |
| Free workshops on Zoom | Laptop or desktop | Tablet |
Coding needs a proper keyboard and the ability to install software, which phones and most tablets cannot do well.
Internet
A stable connection matters more than raw speed. If the connection is unreliable:
- Sit close to the router
- Ask others at home to pause heavy downloads during class
- Keep a mobile hotspot as a backup
- Turn off the camera briefly if video freezes
Audio and video
- Headphones with a microphone reduce echo and help children focus
- A working camera helps the teacher see when a child is stuck
- Test both before the first class
Software
- Install the video app (often Zoom) in advance
- For coding courses, install the course software using the setup guide we send before session one
- Keep the device updated and charged
The space
- A quiet room with few distractions
- A table and chair, not a bed
- Good light in front of the child, not behind
- Water and a notebook nearby
For younger children
Sit with them for the first few minutes to help with sound and camera, then step back. Most children settle quickly once they see the teacher and other students.
Tips for the first session
- Join five minutes early
- Close other apps and tabs
- Keep notifications off
- Have the setup guide open in case anything needs checking
We send a setup guide before every course, and you can always message us on WhatsApp if something is not working.

Frequently asked questions
Can my child do coding classes on a tablet?
A laptop or desktop is strongly recommended for coding, because it needs a keyboard and installed software.
What internet speed do online classes need?
A stable connection matters more than speed. Sit near the router and pause heavy downloads during class.
Does my child need a camera for online classes?
It helps the teacher see when a child is stuck and keeps the class interactive, so a working camera is recommended.
What software is needed for coding classes?
It depends on the course. We send a setup guide with links and instructions before the first session.
