About this course
This course introduces students to artificial intelligence in a clear, age-appropriate and responsible way. Learners explore how AI shows up in everyday life, how AI tools actually work, and how to interact with them safely and ethically. Students experiment with building simple AI bots, understand data basics, and learn to use AI as a tool for learning and creativity: alongside real digital-safety habits.

Who this course is for
Ages 12–16. Students already using AI tools without much understanding of them, and parents who would rather their child learned the rules from a teacher than from a group chat. No coding background needed.
What you will be able to do
- Explain in plain terms how an AI model produces an answer
- Build and test a simple rule-based bot
- Recognise when an AI output is wrong, biased or invented
- Use AI as a study aid without outsourcing the thinking
How the course is structured
Sessions 1–2: What AI actually is
Pattern-matching, training data and prediction, explained without maths. Where AI already touches their day.
Sessions 3–4: Build a bot
Students design and test a simple conversational bot, then try to break each other's.
Sessions 5–6: Data and bias
Why models inherit the flaws of their training data, demonstrated rather than asserted.
Sessions 7–8: Using AI honestly
Prompting, fact-checking, what counts as your own work, and digital safety. Ends with a personal project.

How it runs
Live online · small group: taught live, never pre-recorded, with sessions recorded afterwards so students can revisit anything they missed. Timings are arranged around school and time zones, and we reschedule when exams or travel get in the way.
