About this course
Designed for students ready to move beyond block-based coding, this course introduces Python from the ground up. Learners cover programming fundamentals, then gradually work with data organisation, basic analysis and simple visualisations using tools like pandas and matplotlib. The focus is a strong foundation that prepares students for advanced coding and future tech learning.

Who this course is for
Ages 12–18 who have outgrown block-based coding, or adults starting from scratch. Some prior exposure to programming logic helps but is not required. We cover fundamentals before touching data.
What you will be able to do
- Write Python programs using functions, lists and dictionaries
- Load a real dataset and answer questions with it using pandas
- Produce clear charts with matplotlib
- Read an error message and fix the cause rather than the symptom
How the course is structured
Session 1: Python fundamentals
Variables, types, input and output. Everything runs from day one.
Session 2: Control flow and functions
Loops, conditions, and writing code you can reuse.
Session 3: Data structures
Lists and dictionaries, and choosing between them.
Session 4: Working with real data
First contact with pandas on a genuine, messy dataset.
Session 5: Analysis
Filtering, grouping and asking questions the data can answer.
Session 6: Visualisation and project
matplotlib charts, then a small end-to-end project of the student's choosing.

It is a solid foundation for the programming half. It does not cover theory topics like algorithms and complexity, which those courses teach separately.
Nothing at first. We start in the browser. Later sessions use a free local Python setup that we walk through together.
For a working introduction, yes: enough to load, filter, group and chart real data. It is a foundation, not mastery, and we say so.

How it runs
Live online · small group: taught live, never pre-recorded, with sessions recorded afterwards so students can revisit anything they missed. Timings are arranged around school and time zones, and we reschedule when exams or travel get in the way.
