A Level Physics is a big step up from O Level or IGCSE. The maths is heavier, the explanations need to be more precise, and two whole papers test practical and planning skills that many students never practise properly. Most grade problems come from three places: shaky foundations from AS carried into A2, weak algebra and graph handling, and not knowing what a six-mark explanation needs.

Cambridge International AS & A Level
Physics9702

Most of our A Level students sit Cambridge International AS & A Level. If your child is on a different board, such as Pearson Edexcel International A Level, tell us the units and we will confirm honestly whether we can help.

What the syllabus covers

AS Level builds the foundations: physical quantities and units, kinematics, dynamics, forces, density and pressure, work, energy and power, deformation of solids, waves and superposition, electricity and DC circuits, and particle physics.

A2 goes further: circular motion, gravitational fields, temperature and ideal gases, thermodynamics, oscillations, electric fields and capacitance, magnetic fields, alternating currents, quantum physics, nuclear physics, medical physics, and astronomy and cosmology.

Students sit Paper 1 (multiple choice), Paper 2 (AS structured questions), Paper 3 (advanced practical skills), Paper 4 (A Level structured questions) and Paper 5 (planning, analysis and evaluation). Paper 5 is the one students most often leave to chance, and it is very teachable.

How we teach A Level Physics

Every student starts with a topic-by-topic diagnostic. "Weak at Physics" is not specific enough to fix: we need to know which topics lose marks, and whether the problem is understanding, recall or exam technique.

  1. Diagnose: a short test across the specification, marked against real Cambridge mark schemes.
  2. Rebuild concepts: we fix the underlying idea first, because technique built on a shaky concept collapses under exam pressure.
  3. Past-paper cycles: topic-wise questions first, then full papers, learning the command words and exactly what examiners credit.
  4. Timed practice and tracking: full papers under exam timing in the final weeks, with progress tracked topic by topic.

Classes are live online in groups of 3 to 5 students, or one-to-one when a student is starting late, retaking or has very specific gaps. Sessions are recorded for revision, and parents get honest progress updates on WhatsApp. We teach students across Pakistan (Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and beyond), the Gulf, the UK and North America.

Where students usually lose marks

  • Definitions and laws written loosely, when the mark scheme wants exact wording
  • Derivations and multi-step calculations that break down at the algebra
  • Graphs and uncertainties: gradients, error bars, worst-fit lines and percentage uncertainty
  • Paper 5 planning questions, which need a clear method, variables, safety and analysis
  • A2 fields topics, where gravitational and electric field ideas get mixed up

Frequently asked questions

Do you teach both AS and A2 Physics?
Yes. We teach AS and A2 for Cambridge 9702, including students who sat AS last year and need to strengthen it before A2.

Can you help with Paper 3 and Paper 5?
Yes. We teach measurement, tables, graphs, uncertainties and experimental planning directly, using past practical and planning papers, because these papers reward technique you can learn.

Is A Level Physics tuition one-to-one or in a group?
Both. Most students join small groups of 3 to 5. One-to-one suits students starting late, retaking, or aiming for an A* with specific gaps.

My child is retaking A Level Physics. Can you help?
Yes. We start with a diagnostic on the previous attempt, then focus on the topics and question types that cost the most marks.
