Many students know the content of Islamiyat well from home and school, and are still disappointed by their grade. The exam rewards a particular kind of answer: accurate knowledge, supported by references, followed by a thoughtful evaluation where the question asks for one. That structure can be taught.

What the syllabus covers

Both papers draw on the same core areas:

  • Major themes of the Qur'an: set passages, their context and their meaning
  • The history and importance of the Qur'an: revelation and compilation
  • The life of the Prophet (pbuh): Makka and Madina periods and key events
  • The first Islamic community: the Prophet's family, companions and the Rightly Guided Caliphs
  • Hadith and its importance: compilation and use as a source of law
  • The articles of faith and pillars of Islam

Questions typically have a knowledge part and an evaluation part. The evaluation part is where strong students separate themselves, and where many lose marks by repeating the knowledge instead of reflecting on it.

For many students in Pakistan, O Level Islamiyat is a required subject for school completion and equivalence. Confirm your school's requirements when choosing subjects.

How we teach IGCSE & O Level Islamiyat

Every student starts with a topic-by-topic diagnostic, because "weak at Islamiyat" is not specific enough to fix. We need to know which topics are losing marks, and whether the problem is understanding, recall or exam technique.

  1. Diagnose: a short test across the syllabus, marked against the real mark scheme.
  2. Rebuild concepts: we fix the underlying idea first. Technique on top of a shaky concept collapses under exam pressure.
  3. Drill past papers: full cycles of past papers, learning the command words and exactly what examiners give marks for.
  4. Time and track: timed papers in the final weeks, with progress tracked topic by topic.

Classes are live online in groups of 3–5 students, or one-to-one when a student is starting late or has very specific gaps. Sessions are recorded for revision, and parents get honest progress updates on WhatsApp.

Where students usually lose marks

  • Thin evaluation answers that restate facts rather than explain significance
  • Missing references to the Qur'an or Hadith where they would strengthen an answer
  • Chronology: events in the wrong order in history answers
  • Time management: writing too much on knowledge parts and too little on evaluation
