In Maths, a grade usually drops for one of two reasons: a few topics the student never really understood (often algebra or functions), or steady loss of marks to careless working and slow pace. A diagnostic separates the two, and the fix is very different for each.

What the syllabus covers
- Number: fractions, percentages, standard form, ratio, bounds and money
- Algebra and graphs: expressions, equations, inequalities, sequences, functions and graph sketching
- Coordinate geometry: straight lines, gradients and equations of lines
- Geometry: angle properties, circle theorems, similarity and constructions
- Mensuration: perimeter, area, surface area and volume
- Trigonometry: right-angled and non-right-angled triangles, bearings
- Transformations and vectors
- Probability and statistics: averages, charts, cumulative frequency and probability
IGCSE 0580 is offered at Core and Extended level, and the current syllabus includes both non-calculator and calculator papers. O Level 4024 is a single tier with two papers. Choosing the right tier matters: Core caps the highest grade available, so the decision is worth making carefully with the school.
How we teach IGCSE & O Level Maths
Every student starts with a topic-by-topic diagnostic, because "weak at Maths" is not specific enough to fix. We need to know which topics are losing marks, and whether the problem is understanding, recall or exam technique.
- Diagnose: a short test across the syllabus, marked against the real mark scheme.
- Rebuild concepts: we fix the underlying idea first. Technique on top of a shaky concept collapses under exam pressure.
- Drill past papers: full cycles of past papers, learning the command words and exactly what examiners give marks for.
- Time and track: timed papers in the final weeks, with progress tracked topic by topic.
Classes are live online in groups of 3–5 students, or one-to-one when a student is starting late or has very specific gaps. Sessions are recorded for revision, and parents get honest progress updates on WhatsApp.
Where students usually lose marks
- Not showing working: losing method marks even when the method was right
- Algebraic manipulation: sign errors and expanding brackets
- Non-calculator arithmetic: fractions and negative numbers without a calculator
- Reading the question: answering to the wrong accuracy or in the wrong units
- Running out of time: spending too long on early questions

Frequently asked questions
Should my child take Core or Extended IGCSE Maths?
Extended is needed for the top grades and for A-Level Maths. Core can suit a student who needs a secure pass. We can run a diagnostic and give an honest recommendation before your school's entry deadline.
Do you cover non-calculator skills?
Yes. Non-calculator arithmetic, fractions and algebra are practised directly, because they cost many students easy marks.
Do you teach O Level Maths 4024 as well?
Yes. We teach to the syllabus and paper structure your child is entered for, with matching past papers.
How quickly can a Maths grade improve?
It depends on the gap. Technique and accuracy improve within weeks; missing foundations take longer. The diagnostic gives a realistic timeline at the start.
